Jaclyn is an artist living close to the shores of Lake Huron, Ontario, Canada where quiet mornings, soft light, and the company of animals have always shaped her creative life. She was rarely seen without a pencil in hand or a pet by her side spending her time drawing and forming deep bonds with the animals she loved.
She has always had a pet of her own and that lifelong connection is at the heart of her work. Jaclyn creates realistic pet portraits with warmth and care focusing on the small details and gentle expressions that make each animal feel familiar and deeply loved.
Her goal is to create artwork that feels comforting - portraits that bring a sense of closeness, memory and home into the spaces they are displayed.
Pastels are the most permanent of all mediums. 16th Century pastels still exist; they do not crack or yellow over time. Pastels originated in the 15th Century famously used by artists like Degas, Cassatt and Renoir. Used primarily for sketches, they later became a major respected medium for finished artwork.
"I love working in pastels because they are compounded of almost pure pigment, creating very bright, non fading colors. I use soft pastels which are highly pigmented and buttery, ideal for broad strokes, blending, and vibrant intense colors that will bring the portrait of your pet to you, for lasting memories."
